Concord Public School was one of nine schools across Ontario to be selected for a Living School pilot site. Each pilot site will receive $8,000, which can be spent on playground equipment to promote physical activity and developing nutritional programs that stress the importance of maintaining a healthy weight. A steering committee of parents, teachers, students, representatives from the health unit, the YMCA and the city’s parks and recreation will guide the Living School project. One of the reasons Concord was chosen is because it has strong ties to community groups which can assist them in promoting healthy living.
