Elementary students ready to Live it Up
January 22, 2005 Markham Economist & Sun (By: Joan Ransberry) As part of the Living School project’s Live it Up Challenge, students from Markham’s Greensborough Public School are playing host to a 20 minute active-a-thon, which includes physical activity challenges followed by a fruit snack. Since participating in the program, healthy living has been a big issue at Greensborough. Students are encouraged to be active at recess and daily vigorous activity is held. The school has trained fitness ambassadors who visit classrooms regularly to encourage healthy living. Students are also encouraged to take part in field trips involving skiing, snowboarding, bowling, rock climbing and golf. |
